PASADENA, TX: It’s time for a slam dunk at the fourteenth annual McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament. The tournament will host 80 of the top boys and girls high school basketball teams, Nov. 17-19.

The event is one of the largest fundraisers for the Pasadena ISD and Deer Park ISD Education Foundations, attracting 44,000 fans during the 200 games played in 10 venues across Pasadena and Deer Park last year

The McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament absolutely makes a difference in the lives of our children,” said Kirk Lewis, tournament chairman. “There is something within that notion that makes us all want to be a part of something this amazing.”

The tournament is made possible by a generous sponsorship of $25,000 from McDonald’s, sponsorships from nearly 200 other donors and more than 400 community volunteers.

“This tournament is a great event for our community,” said Cindy Parmer, Pasadena ISD director of community relations. “It’s important to remember that not only is it a wonderful opportunity to see some awesome basketball in our own backyard, but to also showcase what the tournament is about, our kids.”

The proceeds from the tournament go directly to grants for teachers and students in Pasadena and Deer Park. In the past, grants have been awarded for programs that:

  • Put technology in the hands of children who are seeing or hearing impaired to enhance their learning.
  • Provide equipment for robotics and engineering programs in elementary and middle schools.
  • Provide literature for classrooms with children who speak English as a second language.

Tickets for the tournament are available as single game tickets or three-day passes and are available for pre-purchase at all tournament locations. Three-day passes start at $20 on or before Nov. 17 and single game tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. Children under seven are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
